Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence can be described as a set of emotional and social skills that help us to understand how we see and express ourselves, how we interact with others, cope with challenges and use emotional data effectively and meaningfully.  It is also often described as “cop on” or “common sense”, being able to handle yourself, others and whatever challenges may come your way.  Not only does emotional intelligence help us to understand what drives us, it also helps us to understand and appreciate the views of other people and anticipate how they might react to suggestions we make.

Emotional intelligence is a key predictor of human performance, development potential and leadership performance.  As the skills associated with emotional intelligence can be developed, improved upon and enhanced through coaching, it is a powerful concept for professional success.

Sandra O’Malley is a certified emotional intelligence assessor and is licensed to carry out psychometric assessments to measure emotional intelligence.  Assessment and development of EI is key for organisational success in terms of leadership development, organisational development, team building, selection and executive coaching.  It is significantly important for organisational progress and success.
